Judy Woodruff on the 'honor' of telling Americans' stories

PBS News special correspondent and longtime journalist Judy Woodruff says it was the honor of her life to anchor the PBS NewsHour, but that traveling to report on what American voters think ahead of this Election is what she looks forward to now.

“I like to look people in the eye to say, ’I’m genuinely interested in what you have to say,’” she said. “That’s a great privilege.”

For the last 2 years, Judy and her team of producers have produced “America at a Crossroads,” a series that airs every other week on PBS News exploring political polarization in America. The team held a town hall event in Milwaukee on Sept. 23 to talk to Wisconsin voters about their thoughts on what is dividing the country.

Judy says she had wanted to hold a town hall since the inception of the “Crossroads” project.

“It’s an honor to be able to sit down with with Americans in their community, in their home, in a beer hall and talk to them about what’s on their mind,” she said.
