1:26Now PlayingUkrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with former President Donald Trump for a meeting Friday, with the presidential candidate repeating that he would work to end the Russia-Ukraine war if re-elected to the Oval Office.
In the brief remarks, Trump recalled a previous phone call with the Ukrainian president. He claimed Zelenskyy said that as the impeachment proceedings were happening against the former president, he felt that Trump had done nothing wrong.
Speaking with reporters at Trump Tower in New York, Trump said he and Zelenskyy, who was in town for the annual United Nations General Assembly in New York, “have a very good relationship,” adding that he also has a good relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“I hope we have more good relations,” Zelenskyy said.
Trump, in response, said, “It takes two to tango, you know.”
The meeting took place a day after Zelenskyy met with Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump’s opponent in the 2024 race.
