1:45Now PlayingDonald Trump must ensure the U.S. leads on artificial intelligence and climate change when he takes office, President Joe Biden said in a speech on Monday.
“I urge the next administration to carry forward two issues that have been central to my presidency and which shaped the future, in my view,” Biden said on artificial intelligence and climate change.
“We are in the lead and we must stay in the lead. We must not offshore artificial intelligence as we once did with computer chips and other critical technologies,” Biden said.
On climate change, Biden criticized Trump and his allies, claiming that some in his future administration “don't even believe climate change is real.”
“They're wrong . They are dead wrong. It's a single greatest existential threat to humanity,” Biden said.
Biden will leave office next week. He has argued that his one-term presidency has repaired diplomatic damage that will benefit the U.S. for years to come.
