YouTube Description
as posted by the channelPresident Donald Trump’s plans for mass deportation and helping agricultural businesses that rely on undocumented migrants were both "key priorities," agriculture secretary nominee Brooke Rollins said on Thursday.
“The president's vision of a secure border and a mass deportation at a scale that matters is something I support,” Rollins said.
“My commitment is to help President Trump deploy his agenda in an effective way, while at the same time defending, if confirmed secretary of agriculture, our farmers and ranchers across this country," she added. "And so having both of those, which you may argue is in conflict, but having both of those is key priorities.”
Rollins was responding to questions from Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., who pointed out that an estimated 40 percent of farm laborers were undocumented migrants who in theory face deportation under Trump, during her confirmation hearing before the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry.
A former White House aide, Rollins served as Trump’s domestic policy chief during his first administration as well as general deputy counsel and policy advisor for former Texas Gov. Rick Perry. Missing ethics materials and financial disclosures delayed Rollins’ confirmation hearing.
