2:10Now PlayingPresident Donald Trump said Monday that getting into show business “hurts your reputation.”
Trump spoke at a news conference at the White House where he signed an executive order on restricting U.S. drug prices. He introduced Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, to speak about future drug price negotiations. He also noted that Oz had had a very successful television show that had made him a lot of money.
“When you're in show business, it hurts your reputation a little bit. It's good for you, it's good for you, but in terms of professionalism and being a doctor, it sort of hurts your reputation,” Trump said.
He compared Oz to Jeanine Pirro, a FOX News personality and former judge whom Trump recently tapped as interim U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C.
“She was really tough, really sharp, then she did a show and people didn't think of it quite the same way. She became more of an entertainment person,” Trump said.
