2:51Now PlayingThe Department of Education was still considering whether and how to spend all of its budget allocated to Congress, Secretary Linda McMahon said on Tuesday.
“We're going to continue to look at the allocations, and we'd like to work with you as we continue to evaluate those programs,” McMahon said at a hearing of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
McMahon was answering a question from Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wisc., who said the Education Department had not spent $1.3 billion allocated for before and after school programs and over $2 billion for teacher training.
The Trump administration has already slashed billions of dollars from the Education Department’s budget and President Donald Trump has vowed to dismantle the department itself.
