0:34Now PlayingPresident Donald Trump will make a decision on Iran within two weeks, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced Thursday.
“Based on the fact that there's a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks," Trump said in a statement read by Leavitt at a White House press briefing.
The statement comes one day after the president wouldn’t say whether he’s willing to join Israel in its attempt to destroy Iran's nuclear program.
Israel struck more nuclear targets in Iran on Thursday as Iranian missiles hit a hospital and residential buildings near Tel Aviv.
The prospect of direct U.S. involvement in the conflict is adding to fears of a wider war in the Middle East.
