Minneapolis residents' vigil for woman shot by ICE

Residents in Minneapolis gathered Wednesday night to mourn the death of Renee Good, a 37-year-old woman who was fatally shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.

Videos of the shooting taken by bystanders show an officer coming toward an SUV that was stopped across the middle of a snowy and icy road. As the officer attempted to open the driver’s side door, the jerked away in the general direction of a different officer who was standing in front of the SUV with his gun drawn. That officer, who was knocked backward but not hit, opened fire on the SUV. The car sped toward the curb, crashing into parked vehicles.

While Vice President JD Vance said Thursday that Good's death was "a tragedy of her own making," local officials have said the video tells a different story, and called on federal forces to leave the city and its people alone.

ICE agents recently deployed to Minneapolis as part of the Trump administration's immigration crackdown in major American cities.
