1:59Now PlayingAfter more than 90 minutes of touting his accomplishments during his first year back in the White House, President Donald Trump named his imposition of tariffs, building a “really powerful military” and securing investment in the U.S. among his top achievements.
Trump’s comments came during a news conference in the White House briefing room on Tuesday.
The White House website notes that the U.S. will receive $9.6 trillion in domestic and foreign investments, roughly half the amount claimed by Trump on Tuesday when he said that the country has “$18 trillion coming in.”
Global markets also slumped Tuesday after the president called for a 10% tariff on European countries and NATO allies that are rallying to support Denmark against his calls for a U.S. takeover of Greenland, a semiautonomous Danish territory.
