The shooting of 37-year-old Minneapolis resident Alex Pretti by U.S. Border Patrol agents has sparked outrage across the nation.

Pretti, who had worked as an ICU nurse at a Minneapolis Veterans Affairs hospital, was the second U.S. citizen to be killed this month by federal forces in Minnesota, where President Donald Trump has surged federal resources as part of his immigration crackdown.

PBS News' Deema Zein spoke with Dr. Aasma Shaukat, a physician and clinical researcher who was mentor of Pretti. She shared her reaction to the shooting and how she remembers Pretti's life.
