as posted by the channelSen. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., questioned Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Wednesday about the use of federal resources to produce self-promotional videos that appeared on his official government social media channels.
The videos included a workout video with musician and performer Kid Rock, with a scene of them drinking milk in a water-filled tub.
Hassan asked Kennedy if President Donald Trump knows about “this self-promotion campaign that you're carrying out with official HHS resources.”
“I didn’t know about a number of those videos,” Kennedy said. “I just happened to not see them.”
Kennedy noted that he was asked during a previous congressional hearing about how much it cost the government to produce the Kid Rock video. He said his staff told him the cost was “zero.”
“Did the president authorize you to use official HHS resources for these vanity projects? That's my question,” Hassan asked. “Have you discussed them with the president? Did he authorize the use of them?”
“I've never discussed it with the president,” Kennedy said.
Kennedy was expected to face questioning about his controversial changes to vaccine policy, as well as new dietary guidelines and proposed Medicaid cuts. Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy, a physician, committee member and influential chair of the Senate Health Committee, will have opportunities in two hearings Wednesday to press Kennedy, whose approach to vaccines he’s criticized in the past.
