The news follows the 22-year-old's legal battle with the NCAA, which ruled him ineligible after he made thousands of bets during his college career.
In a letter published by multiple media outlets Tuesday, the NFL said his petition failed to "demonstrate accountability for your conduct or indicate whether or how you would adhere to the league's rules."
The NFL instead encouraged Sorsby to try its regular draft next year. His lawyer called the decision unlawful.
