8:10Now PlayingRep. Sheri Biggs, R-S.C., spoke about Sen. Lindsey Graham’s legacy during a memorial service in his honor at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda on Tuesday.
“When people talk about Lindsey Graham, they often talk about the titles he has held. The congressman, the senator, the chairman, the colonel. But titles only tell us a small part of the story,” Biggs said. “To truly understand Lindsey, you have to understand his deep love for South Carolina and his family, and his belief that public service is a responsibility, not simply a position.”
Biggs described Graham’s love for the U.S. military, noting his 30 years of service in the Air Force, and thanked the late senator's staff for their loyalty and sacrifice.
“A legacy is not built only through votes, legislation, or headlines. A legacy is built through the lives touched, the relationships formed and the focused mission to make a difference over time,” Biggs said. “Lindsey Graham's legacy is one of service to South Carolina, to our nation and to the cause of making the world a safer and better place.”
Graham’s remains will be taken from the U.S. Capitol, where he served for more than 30 years, to the Washington National Cathedral for a funeral service.
