1:22Now PlayingPresident Donald Trump memorialized Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., as a “legend” Tuesday during a memorial service for the late lawmaker at the Washington National Cathedral.
“He died doing the work he was born to do. He was truly a great politician serving the country he loved to serve so deeply,” the president said.
Trump added that Graham, who died earlier this month at age 71, “went out at the peak of his career, at the top of his game, as a legend that every one of us, many of us here today, blessed to know him and a friend that none of us will ever forget.”
Hundreds came to pay their respects to the longtime lawmaker. Trump and Fox News host Sean Hannity were both expected to speak about Graham’s life and legacy. Several foreign dignitaries also attended the service, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Earlier in the day, Graham was honored in a ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda that included tributes from Rep. Sheri Biggs, R-S.C., Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., and Vice President JD Vance.
