Eyewitness video shows a standoff between police and a 49-year-old woman from Queens on Monday.
Officials said she had a documented mental health history and had threatened officers before being shot and killed by police.
Police said the woman stabbed two people: a 68-year-old man who had just exited the subway and 32-year-old Erin Piacenti, a vice president at Bank of America who later died at the hospital.
New York City’s police commissioner called the attack “random and unprovoked.”
