"The short of it is that the CIA offered Ammar alAwlaki the $5 million bounty on his brother's head to give up his location," Scahill reveals. "He said, 'We don't want to kill him, we want to take him into custody. And if we don't find him, your brother is going to end up dead.'" Less than a year later, Anwar would be killed by a U.S. drone strike in Yemen.
