"I always gravitate back toward ‘The Bluest Eye’ because of what it says and what it does for us as black women," says Sanchez. Morrison, a Pulitzer Prize winner and Nobel laureate who is credited with revolutionizing understandings of race in America, died on August 5 at the age of 88.
