The U.S. killed Major General Qassem Soleimani, the head of the elite Quds Force, in a drone strike in Baghdad early Friday — a move that could inflame tensions in the region and potentially lead to open hostilities between the U.S. and Iran. "It's an act of war that took place without any consultation with Congress, any approval from Congress, any authorization from Congress," says Parsi, executive vice president of the Quincy Institute, a new anti-war think tank. "This is something that is going to be a major point of escalation, it's a decision that I think ultimately made America less, rather than more, safe."
