Willis, who has endorsed Elizabeth Warren for president, said that her decision hinged on how the candidates have approached "particularly LGBTQ organizers, Black and brown organizers who are on the ground." The Warren campaign's outreach has been "intentional," she says — she "definitely has done it better than the other campaigns." On why she didn't choose to endorse former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, she says, "When I really look at what Mayor Buttigieg stands for, he stands for the status quo. … For a lot of LGBTQ folks, particularly those who are Black and brown and more marginalized, we need more."
