The charges come after the state of Kentucky failed to prosecute any police officers for Taylor's death, despite nationwide Black Lives Matter demands to investigate. "How can it be that the federal government and state government are so far apart on this case?" says Sadiqa Reynolds, president and CEO of the Louisville Urban League, who calls the federal charges "a great step in the right direction." Reynolds is demanding an investigation into Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron's prosecution of the case — which she says was either "incompetent" or "in collusion" with the police.
