as posted by the channelJoy Villa, a singer and songwriter, decided to make a big splash at the 2017 Grammy Awards by wearing a very form-fitting dress which was crafted out of a Donald Trump flag that featured the words “Make America Great Again” written sideways (vertically) down the left hand side and the word “Trump” written on the train. The letters were bedazzled in silver and the dress was predominantly blue with red and white accents. She also carried a heart shaped “clutch” purse featuring a large “peace” sign on the front of it. Villa was very crafty with how she got on the red carpet wearing the dress. Cameras taken shortly after her arrival showed her in an all white large gown type of ensemble. That piece of clothing was able to be quickly removed which revealed the aforementioned #MAGA dress underneath.
Her dress was a big part of the show because of how liberal The Grammys are. Many supporters of Trump and supporters of free thought in general rushed to support her music because they appreciated her act of bravery in liberalism’s belly of the beast - Los Angeles, California. Hollywood. Home of virtue-signalling, anti-Trump “celebrities.” Some say she was not a Trump supporter but she has come out to say that she is, in fact, a Trump supporter and that it is the American thing to do.
The Grammys did not do a lot of virtue signalling and politically based performances/speeches this time around but of course... there was some of that. The main thing that happened was a Tribe Called Quest performance where they did a song with the hook “you must go” which was totally anti-Trump. They railed against his stance on illegal immigration, conflating it with immigration in general as him being against immigrants that were not white. Rapper Busta Rhymes was also on stage with Tribe Called Quest. Busta directly called Trump “President Agent Orange” and also spoke against the travel ban. Strange performance but not unexpected.
Overall, it was a night not really to remember. Outside of the lovely Joy Villa who wore a dress with the hopes of many, that we can one day get past all the silly games from political extremists and Make America Great Again.
