16:54Now PlayingFormer Major League Baseball player best known for his time on the Boston Red Sox, Curt Schilling, delivered an epic takedown of CNN while live on CNN. He was there to be interviewed about the whole Jemele Hill and ESPN controversy. She had been in some hot water over tweets she made where she labeled Donald Trump as a white supremacist. Curt Schilling was also in hot water with ESPN over some controversial social media posts. His in particular was against the transgender bathroom situation. He believes that there should be no gender crossing in a restroom. Along with his opinion, he shared a provocative meme about it on his Facebook page.
CNN drew a false comparison from the beginning of the interview. They assumed that as Curt Schilling was fired, so was Jemele Hill. That is not the case. She has not been fired and probably will not be fired. The CEO of Disney, which owns ABC and ESPN is a very “progressive” man named Bob Iger and he has been rumored to run for President. So there may be a political reason, outside of just normal pc liberal workplace culture, for no real action being taken against Jemele Hill, outside of a simple “we disavow her statements” type of response from ESPN’s PR twitter account. The interview from that point on was simply a platform for Curt Schilling to lay into CNN’s false reporting and toxic, uber-liberal culture, which is what he did.
He spoke about them backing up the “hands up don’t shoot” Michael Brown of Ferguson Missouri lie with an on-air demonstration of 4 female CNN anchors holding their hands up. One woman (Sunny Hostin) held an “I can’t breathe” sign up - which was a tribute to Eric Garner. Schilling also went on about how CNN constantly has negative coverage about Trump and how people are now tired of it. The host did not take it so well and was not able to keep his composure. The result was a classic interview and a prime example of why CNN has well-deserved moniker of “fake news.”
