13:38Now PlayingA woman wrote an article on the website “Ravishly” about being fat… and revealing that fact to those close to her and the rest of the world. Seriously. She “came out” as a fat person. Similar to a person coming out as gay.
Something that a person cannot really hide - their physical appearance - was something that she… was hiding. In the article, she does admit to people being able to see her. So it’s not like she thinks she’s invisible. But she does talk about how she tried to do many different things to avoid people finding out that she’s fat. Such as avoiding physical contact and wearing certain types of clothes. Also trying to avoid uncomfortable conversations about weight.
The article was ridiculous and humorous at times, while at the same time sort of concerning. She recounted one instance in which her and friends parked a vehicle downhill from a concert venue and how she couldn’t make it up the hill due to breathing troubles. Her solution was to pretend like she was gazing up at the stars rather than being visibly out of breath.
Towards the end of the article, she was talking about accepting her body for what it is. In reality, she needs to tighten up. If not so she can stop being insecure about her body… at least she can do it for her cardiovascular (and mental!) health.
