Senate Bill 195 authorizes pharmacists to prescribe PrEP and PEP, medications used to prevent HIV before and after potential exposure.
Public health leaders say the change could dramatically expand access, especially in rural communities where clinics are scarce.
Georgia reported 2,485 new HIV diagnoses in 2024. "HIV is not a death sentence anymore," said Little Five Points Pharmacy pharmacist Ira Katz.
