Carly Gregg Pre-Trial Hearing~Matricide by 14 year old being tried as adult in MS~Atty Commentary

Carly Gregg was 14 when she shot & k!lled her mother, Ashley Smiley, 40, at their Rankin County, Mississippi home on 3/19/24. As her mother lay on the floor, she used her mother's phone to text her step-father, Heath Smiley to find out when he was coming home, and allegedly lay in wait, attempting to k!ll him as well. Heath survived. It is also reported that Carly called a friend to come over to show her her mom's body. Carly, now 15, is being tried as an adult, is charged with 1st degree M*rder & Attempted M*rder, and faces up to 2 life sentences, if convicted. It is expected that the defendant will assert an insanity defense. A plea deal of 40 years was rejected by the defendant.
