44:17Now PlayingThe Austin American-Statesman obtained body camera footage from the Texas Department of Public Safety showing one of the events that prompted the city of Austin to end its police partnership with the state agency.
The partnership was first announced in late March as a way to supplement the law enforcement presence in Austin amid an officer shortage in the Austin Police Department. The operation was paused in mid-May while some troopers were deployed to the Texas-Mexico border as part of Operation Lone Star and was reinstated July 2 before formally ending on July 12.
