3:24Now PlayingJohn Parry demonstrates ear defenders, a new invention devised by explosive experts at the Ministry of Technology.
Ear defenders are designed for people working in high-volume environments, they limit extremely loud noises but admit the human voice. Just how good are they? To find out, Mr Parry tests them while using an automatic rifle, a 160 decibel Browning M2 machine gun, a pistol and... a stick of dynamite inside a barrel.
