14:09Now PlayingTom Kilburn was a mathematician and computer scientist from Dewsbury, who was involved in the development of the Manchester Computers - the early computers of the 1940s, 50s, 60s and 70s.
He is remembered alongside Freddie Williams, as the co-inventor behind the Manchester Baby, the world's first stored-program computer.
Tom and his team also contributed to the Atlas computer - one of the world's first supercomputers, which in 1962 was claimed to be the fastest computer in the world.
Upon retirement in 1981, the proud Yorkshireman recalled his life's work in an interview with Brian Redhead.
