Kenneth Allsop reports from the capital of Iceland, where the amateur footballers of local club Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur (KR Reykjavik) are about to become the first ever Icelandic representatives in the European Cup. KR Reykjavik's team includes Thordur Jonsson - a grammar school student and mason's assistant, Hreidar Arsaelsson - who works for a local printer as a typesetter, Ellert Schram - a law student and part-time reporter, and Gunnar Gudmannsson - a caretaker and refreshment salesman at a local sports ground.
Under the stewardship of coach Karl Gudmundsson, KR won a domestic league and cup double last season. Their reward is a high-profile qualifying match against the reigning English champions - Bill Shankly's resurgent Liverpool FC - featuring such football luminaries as Roger Hunt, Ian St John, Peter Thompson, Ron Yeats and Ian Callaghan. How do KR's part timers go about preparing for such a huge game? Do they have any chance against the mighty Liverpool?
