1:06Now PlayingThe Syrian army has secured border-crossing checkpoints at the strategic frontier city of Kobani.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's forces arrived at the city in northern Syria earlier this week and took control of checkpoints, according to footage shown on Russian television.
Footage from RU-RTR shows Syrian soldiers taking pictures with locals and waving the country's flag as well as that of the People's Protection Units (YPG) on Friday.
The Syrian army moved north under a deal with the Kurds, who have sought protection from the Turkish offensive that followed the withdrawal of US troops from the area.
The Russian military has moved in to act as a buffer between the Syrian and Turkish armies.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey will resume its offensive in northeast Syria "in a more determined way" if Syrian Kurdish fighters do not pull out from areas of northeastern Syria at the end of the five-day ceasefire.
The Turkish leader said he would hold further talks on Syria with Russian President Vladimir Putin next week.
