2:53Now PlayingThe South African Rugby team arrived home to a warm welcome in Johannesburg on Tuesday following their triumph at the Rugby World Cup in Japan.
The Springboks, among them winning captain Siya Kolisi, arrived at the O.R. Tambo International Airport following their victorious campaign.
South Africa beat England 32-12 in Yokohama on Saturday to clinch a third world cup title.
"We won because we definitely wanted it a lot. I know they also wanted it a lot, but I must the say the people outside here and the people inside here did help us a lot," Kolisi said during a press conference.
"It gave us another reason to fight even harder," he added. "We knew what was going on back at home and I think coach reminded us that we have a privilege of doing what we are doing and it can give a little bit of hope to the people," added Kolisi.
Rassi Erasmus, head coach of the South African rugby team, said "(at) halftime when they came in, the chat was again about South Africa, it wasn't about the actual game plan, it was about the people back home watching TV, the messages."
South Africa's success in Japan means the county joins New Zealand with three Rugby World Cup titles.
The team will take the World Cup on a five-day tour of the nation starting Thursday.
