0:38Now PlayingA fire service official said on Wednesday more than 50 homes have been damaged or destroyed by catastrophic wildfires across Australia's most populous state before the emergency subsided.
Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said although more favourable weather conditions were forecast for Wednesday across New South Wales, there was still severe fire danger particularly in the northern part of the state.
He added no lives were lost and no one had been reported missing so far.
Authorites have said 13 firefighters were injured overnight while tackling the fires.
New South Wales state is under a weeklong state of emergency, a declaration that gives the Rural Fire Service power to control resources and direct other government agencies in its efforts to battle fires.
In Queensland state to the north, firefighters were braced for worsening wildfires conditions.
More than 50 wildfires continue to burn with high temperatures forecast across much of the state, where at least 13 homes were destroyed in a the wildfire in Yeppoon.
A team of firefighters from New Zealand had arrived in Queensland to help in the firefighting effort.
Michelle Young from Queensland State Fire and Emergency Service, received the New Zealand team in Caloundra and briefed them on the current rescue efforts.
"With a fire danger rating of catastrophic to severe across New South Wales and Queensland, the help from New Zealand is brilliant," she said.
