Video from a security camera shows two police officers trying to kick open the door to a ward at the Highland Hospital, and people wearing masks running in a hospital corridor.
Separate material shot on a mobile phone shows protesters throwing rocks at police outside the hospital and then running inside.
A hospital employee claimed that police fired tear gas inside the hospital, but the video did not show this.
The protesters had been taking part in a rally against a controversial new citizenship law, despite a police ban on such demonstrations.
