2:11Now PlayingNew York's Mt. Sinai Hospital is giving people a glimpse of what doctors and nurses are facing inside an emergency room dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
Doctor Erik Blutinger, who works at the hospital, recorded his experiences during his shift at the hospital in Queens on Tuesday April 7.
The hospital then shared it with the media.
Blutinger warned the volume of patients was increasing rapidly, whilst walking through hallways lined with COVID-19 patients.
The sound of oxygen and other medical equipment could be heard.
Two tents have been erected outside of Mt. Sinai to handle patients.
America has a death toll over 20,600, the world’s highest, with about half of the deaths occurring in the New York metropolitan area, more than 9,300 people have died there.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that 758 people died in the state Saturday, the sixth day in a row the toll topped 700.
For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.
For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
