YouTube Description
as posted by the channelBritish war veteran Tom Moore was appointed as honorary colonel after he raised £29 million ($36 million) for the U.K. National Health Service (NHS).
He celebrates his 100th birthday on Thursday with his new medals, a Spitfire flypast and over 120,000 cards sent to him from around the world.
Captain Moore said he's "absolutely, totally overwhelmed" by being appointed as an honorary colonel on the eve of his 100th birthday.
He started walking laps in his garden as part of a humble fundraiser for the NHS, hoping to raise 1,000 pounds by his 100th birthday, but surprised himself by generating millions of pounds.
