1:00Now PlayingThe WHO's Dr. Mike Ryan said in a press conference on Wednesday that the coronavirus may be here to stay for good, similar to HIV.
Covid-19 might become another viral disease and live in our communities. In that sense it carries a comparison to HIV. Ryan, noting HIV has not gone away, said "but we've come to terms with the virus and we have found the therapies and we found the prevention methods."
Clarifying that he’s not comparing the two diseases, Ryan said he wanted people to know that it’s impossible to predict when the coronavirus pandemic can be controlled and whether it will be removed from society.
