1:57Now PlayingPresident Donald Trump greeted Terry Sharpe, a former marine and Vietnam veteran, who walked from his hometown of Stokesdale, North Carolina to Washington, D.C. to raise awareness about the high suicide rate of veterans.
Trump was joined at the White House by Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert Wilkie.
Members of Sharpe's support team also visited the White House for the event.
According to the government, 22 veterans commit suicide everyday on average.
Sharpe has been making the trek to raise awareness for the past eight years.
