0:34Now Playing(AP) A funeral was held on Monday for three Lebanese firefighters who were killed in a massive blast earlier this month, that damaged wide parts of Beirut.
Friends, family members and colleagues gathered outside the Beirut Fire Brigade to bid farewell to the three victims - Charbel Hatti, Naguib Hatti, and Charbel Karam - in front of the regiment centre in Beirut's northern neighbourhood of Karantina.
The three men were killed while trying to extinguish the fire that broke out before the port explosion.
Although the cause of the fire that ignited nearly 3,000 tons of ammonium nitrate stored at Beirut’s port remains unclear, many blame the government and the broader ruling elite's incompetence, mismanagement and corruption for the explosion.
Documents have emerged showing that the country’s top leadership, including Lebanese President Michel Aoun, and security officials were aware of the chemicals that had been stored there for years.
The blast killed 180 people and wounded more than 6,000. At least 30 people are still missing.
