2:15Now PlayingThe United States and Qatar signed a memorandum of understanding on expanding economic opportunities between the two countries.
At a signing ceremony in Washington, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo welcomed the agreement saying Qatar plays "an invaluable role" in helping to stabilize Gaza, and to aid in regional efforts to de-escalate tensions both in Syria and in Lebanon.
Mohammed Abdulrahman al-Thani, the Qatari Deputy Prime Minister echoed that saying his country is "confronting issues that matter not only to our two nations but also to the wider stability of the Middle East"
Members of the Trump administration's economic team were on hand for the event and stressed the need for Qatar to continue its efforts to curtail terrorist financing efforts taking place in its financial systems.
