1:56Now PlayingSenate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says President Donald Trump is ignoring reality by suggesting that the weather will change to curb wildfires.
In Sacramento this week, Trump said “It'll start getting cooler, you just watch," at an event addressing wildfire season.
“I don't think science knows, actually,” Trump added.
An extraordinarily busy hurricane season - along with the catastrophic wildfire season on the West Coast - has focused attention on the role of climate change. Scientists say global warming is making the strongest of hurricanes, those with wind speeds of 110 mph or more, even stronger.
On further coronavirus relief, Schumer said, "it's really up to the president." Congress has failed to find agreement on how to further provide aid to those suffering from the pandemic.
