2:06Now PlayingSupreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett said she will approach a review of gun regulations with an "open mind."
Barrett faced questioning from the Senate Judiciary Committee's top Democrat, California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, as the panel held a second day of hearings on Barrett's nomination.
In a dissent in the 2019 gun-rights case of Kanter v. Barr, Barrett, on the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Barrett argued that a conviction for a nonviolent felony — in this case, mail fraud — shouldn't automatically disqualify someone from owning a gun.
The conservative Barrett was nominated by President Donald Trump last month to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Barrett, an appellate court judge with very little trial court experience, is being grilled Tuesday in 30-minute segments by Democrats strongly opposed to Trump's nominee, yet virtually powerless to stop her.
Republicans are rushing her to confirmation before Election Day.
