YouTube Description
as posted by the channelCaptain Sir Tom Moore became the first recipient of a Veteran's Railcard Wednesday, October 14.
The 100-year-old World War II veteran received the card from the Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps - and called the scheme a "magnificent exercise."
The card gives anyone who has served in the armed services a third off rail transport in the U.K., launching November 5.
When asked where he planned to travel with his newly granted rail reduction, Moore said "as far as the gate today."
Moore came to international attention after he raised 33 million pounds (40 million US dollars) for UK National Health Service charities after completing 100 laps of his garden during the coronavirus pandemic.
He recently released his autobiography, "Tomorrow Will Be A Good Day" and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in July.
