"We're going to be doing that from Florida. See your watch tonight," said Trump.
"You know, if you want to have a little entertainment watch. Let's you see, I just want to see the tone of the way they treated this character and the way they treat us."
The president is referring to the fact that his Town Hall will be on at the same time as one with Joe Biden on an opposing network.
Thursday was supposed to be the night of the second of three Trump-Biden debates. After Trump tested positive for COVID-19, the Commission on Presidential Debates said it wanted to change the format from in-person to virtual, but Trump declined to participate.
So with the candidates suddenly free on a night they planned to debate, the networks jumped in with their own offers.
NBC said it reached out to ABC, asking its rival to change the time of its Biden telecast, but was turned away.
ABC scheduled its event last week; NBC announced its own town hall on Wednesday.
Trump, speaking without a mask at a crowded outdoor rally, also offered his best wishes to his rival's running mate Kamala Harris, and reiterated his skepticism of wearing masks.
“We worry about her. I'm very concerned about her,” he said, later adding: “Masks, no masks, everything, you can do all you want, but you know, you still need help."
Harris suspended in-person events until Monday after two people associated with the campaign tested positive for the coronavirus.
Joe Biden's presidential campaign said Thursday that Biden had no exposure, though he and Harris spent several hours campaigning together in Arizona on Oct. 8, when the two people were on a flight with Harris.
Both candidates have tested negative for COVID-19 multiple times since then, and Biden's campaign said he tested negative again on Thursday.
