0:51Now PlayingCanadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday congratulated U.S. President-elect Joe Biden and his running mate California Senator Kamala Harris on their historic election victory that was declared Saturday.
"I'm looking forward to working with them both on the common challenges and opportunities facing our countries and our world. Canada and the United States have a unique relationship, and this bond will always be the strong foundation on which we build our shared future," the prime minister said.
Trudeau spoke by phone with Biden on Monday, and much of their conversation was focused on the pandemic.
Biden and Harris - soon to be America's first Black, South Asian and female vice-president clinched their victory in critical battleground states on Saturday.
Trump has not conceded, with his campaign launching a series of legal challenges to the vote, which Trump is claiming baselessly and without evidence has been fraudulent and improperly managed in some key states.
