White House officials and Republicans like Rep. McCarthy are trying to tamp down concerns the stalled transition of power to President-Elect Joe Biden will scramble the government’s efforts to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine to Americans.
McCarthy thinks that Biden should be updated on vaccine progress, "but the one thing he should do is stop saying the things that he's doing for only political reasons. That is what's hurting the American public."
The Biden campaign has raised concerns that President Donald Trump’s refusal to concede defeat will only add to the suffering as the coronavirus spreads in many parts of the country.
Meanwhile, Trump is facing criticism for contacting two Michigan Republican canvassers. But McCarthy said it was fine for him to reach out and that eventually the offical presidential election results will be accepted by the American public.
