1:45Now PlayingSenate Republicans said Tuesday that the country will pay a price after the passage of a $1.9 trillion stimulus bill along party lines Wednesday in the House.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Wednesday afternoon that the bill was "one of the worst pieces of legislation I've seen passed here in the time I've been in the Senate."
The 628-page measure represents Democrats' effort to bridle the catastrophic pandemic and revive the enfeebled economy, extending federal unemployment benefits, and issuing $1,400 stimulus checks to millions of households.
Republicans say the measure is bloated, crammed with liberal policies and heedless of signs the dual crises are easing. The Senate passed the measure over unanimous Republican opposition four days ago.
"It was a liberal wish list they have described as the most progressive domestic legislation in a generation. It certainly lived up to that billing," said John Thune, the Minority Whip. "To go one party rule and lod it up with a lot of their wish list agenda. And I think that's an unfortunate outcome for the American people."

President Joe Biden said he'd sign the measure on Friday.
