0:52Now PlayingThe Rev. Al Sharpton, along with attorney Benjamin Crump met with mothers of Black men killed by police and others on Wednesday in New York.
Speaking to reporters, Sharpton demanded that the country deal with answering the question of whether there are two levels of policing in this country, "one for Blacks and one for whites."
Crump, said he was appalled by the killing on Daunte Wright in Minnesota by a white officer, Kim Potter.
"If ever there was a time in America when the police should be on their greatest behavior, if ever there was a time when they should be de-escalate in every situation, it should be now," Crump said.
Potter was arrested Wednesday and charged with second-degree manslaughter, a day after she resigned over the fatal shooting.
Wright was killed during a traffic stop and as the nearby murder trial progresses for the ex-officer charged with killing George Floyd last May.
Joining Sharpton and Crump at the press conference were Lesley McSpadden, the mother of Michael Brown Jr, a Black man who was shot by police in 2014; Sybrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin, a Black teenager shot by George Zimmerman, a 28-year-old Hispanic American and Gwen Carr, the mother of Eric Garner, a Black man who died in the chokehold of a white New York City police officer.
