1:30Now PlayingPolice officers sprayed protesters at Brooklyn Center in the US state of Minnesota with what appeared to be a chemical on Wednesday, the fourth night of protests following the death of a Black man who was shot by a former white police officer.
The protest was held on the same day Kim Potter was charged with second-degree manslaughter for killing the 20-year-old motorist Daunte Wright in a shooting that has ignited days of unrest and clashes between protesters and police.
The charge against Potter was filed three days after Wright was killed during a traffic stop and as the nearby murder trial progresses for the ex-officer charged with killing George Floyd last May.
Brooklyn Center's Police Chief Tim Gannon said the officer, a 26-year veteran had mistakenly used her firearm instead of a stun gun on Sunday.
During Wednesday's protest, demonstrators chanted "Say his name! Daunte Wright" under a mix of snow and rain.
Video also showed several protesters carrying Black Lives Matter banners.
Shortly after 9pm (0200GMT Thursday), police announced over a loudspeaker that the protest was an unlawful assembly and ordered people to disperse.
Shortly before the dispersal order, some protesters threw objects at police, who responded with occasional gas canisters.
Some officers could be seen spraying a chemical on protesters who came near the fence surrounding the heavily guarded station, and officers fired sporadic projectiles.
Protesters near the fence formed a wall with umbrellas.
Brooklyn Center had announced a curfew of 10pm (0300GMT Thursday) on Wednesday - the fourth night in a row that the city has taken that action.
