The huge 3D cat meows from its perch in Shinjuku in Tokyo.
For a city known for pushing the boundaries of technology, the huge display is the latest novelty.
It measures 8.16 metres tall and 18.96 metres wide - one of the biggest in Japan.
The giant cat pops up to greet the people walking below seven times every hour from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
"It looks as if it's alive - very impressive. I saw it on TV. This the first time I saw it in real life, and it is more fun," says Hatsue Murakami, a local resident.
The cat is a mike-neko ("tri-coloured coat cat"), one of the best known and loved breeds in Japan.
Due to its popularity, there is an official Twitter account which has a timetable for the display.
"It's very funny and a lot of people are coming here just to watch this," says Ludo Gironde, a French teacher living near Tokyo.
"I think it's amazing to see something as big as this in the streets."
The display's official launch isn't until 12 July, but the technology is being tested ahead of that date.
