0:40Now PlayingGerman Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Monday reminded European Union member states to accept their fair share of refugees from Ukraine.
He said refugees had been coming to Poland and Germany, but now needed the solidarity of others.
"It is good that Poland and Germany are acting together but all the others have already promised (to take refugees) — now this has to be put into action," Scholz urged.
Sweden's Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson warned that her country wouldn't be able to go back to the situation of 2015, when Sweden accepted a "disproportionate" amount of asylum seekers.
"We are about 2.5% of the population of the European Union but we took in 2015 12% of the refugees," she complained.
The interior ministers of the EU were set to gather in Brussels on Monday to discuss a joint approach to distributing Ukrainian refugees.
German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser has been pushing for quotas for the distribution of refugees in the 27-member bloc.
At the beginning of March, the EU streamlined its entry procedures for Ukrainians.
